"Why Learning Leads to Happiness"
Summary: People who learn and enjoy learning are happier and more mentally stable in their later years.
The points in this article are important to remind one's self and one's students. When thinking about people whom I know that are happier, I tend to think of people who have higher education and took their education (even if it was just high school) seriously. The point that students who learn more tend to make better life decisions makes complete sense. I hope to inspire my students to become life-long learners not only to create great citizens, but also for their physical and mental health.
I thought the "flow" talk in the middle of the article was related to the title, but it was a little out of place. It seemed like it should be an article by itself. Basically, people who get really into their learning/work end up happier after their work is finished. However, many people do not accomplish this when it comes to everyday life. From a teacher's perspective, thought, this means that teachers should try to come up with lessons that are able to put students in the "flow" zone they need to work hard and gain confidence and happiness
