- Students should have choice to decide what classes to take because we all have talents and interests in certain areas--not everyone is good at sports or gifted musically. I think students should have to take P.E. for health reasons. Students should not have to take music because it is usually an elective that students want to do rather than being forced into it. The students should have the choice whether or not to take music in middle/high school, but P.E. should be taken every year (but I think different activity electives should be offered).
Post-Reading:
- If a student if involved in an extra-curricular sport or musical study, students should be able to opt out with parental consent. The purpose of the class would be met through the students' extracurriculars.
- Technology is stifling to people creating new music. I do not believe it affects students in school because they will be playing more classical pieces rather than creating music themselves. Technology can cheat creativity because it limits our thinking in general, and many times teenagers do mindless activities using technology rather than using it to broaden creativity.
