Choice Reading #6

Your Brain on Fiction

Summary: Research shows the benefits of fiction are far greater than imagined.

This article is excellent. I actually shared it on my Twitter and Facebook. :) It's so "Pro-English"!

People could read this if they are wondering, "What's the point in reading fiction?" As a reading, I always knew reading was good for me, but I never came all of the proof that comes in this article.

This article, if presented to a classroom, would be able to benefit from it because I think they would put more thought into their reading. If they are told that metaphors are aesthetically pleasing to the brain, then they will be more willing to look for metaphors, and they will be more likely to take part in visualizing the metaphors.

The article later gives an explanation towards the end as to why readers tend to be more empathetic. I was very happy to be able to relate the article to my Empathy and Connectedness strengths.
