How can meaningful connections deepen understanding of the "text"?
Meaningful connections are vital in understanding any text. When people read, they may not "get" the text until they reflect upon it. While reflecting, they think in-depth about the text and its implications. Doing this, the reader is able to understand the text more by being inquisitive and doing deeper thinking.
When one is considering connections while reading, one could relate one text to another, drawing upon previous knowledge for a better comprehension of the piece. Once someone is able to connect one piece to another, it solidifies the information.
